The VEM network based within the Faculty of Social Sciences & Public Policy aims to create spaces of knowledge-exchange and research excellence around visual, embodied and art-based methodologies within, across and beyond Social Sciences. We believe that in using these methodologies lies the potential for co-produced forms of knowledge, opening possibilities to explore otherwise difficult to articulate issues, on a more equal basis.

The VEM hosts events to showcase art-research works to diverse audiences, inviting you to discover the work of social scientists and artists within and outside of KCL who use visual, embodied and art-based methodologies in the study of sensitive issues. 

The network, founded by Drs Negar Elodie Behzadi and Jelke Boesten, has emerged within the Department of International Development.
