As part of Universities Refugee Week 2025, King’s College London is collaborating with universities across the UK to host a series of events celebrating the theme of Community as a Superpower. This year, we emphasise the extraordinary impact of collective generosity, shared resilience, and everyday acts of kindness in shaping a more just and inclusive society.
Through thought-provoking discussions, artistic storytelling, and community-led initiatives, we aim to showcase the power of unity by supporting displaced people and reshaping the narrative around migration.
By bringing together students, academics, and partners nationwide, we are harnessing the strength of collaboration to drive meaningful change, ensuring that every contribution big or small creates a lasting impact in creating inclusive space within universities and beyond.
Universities Refugee Week is part of a nationwide celebration of Refugee Week, a UK-wide festival held every June to honour the contributions, creativity, and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. Established in 1998 and growing into a global movement, Refugee Week takes place around World Refugee Day on 20 June, fostering solidarity and community-driven change. This year’s theme, Community as a Superpower, reinforces the idea that welcoming communities have the power to transform lives and reshape the narrative around migration. Through collaboration, generosity, and shared action, we celebrate the strength found in unity and the role we all play in building a more inclusive society.
