This interdisciplinary series aims to bring together scholars/practitioners working within Arts, Humanities, and the Social Sciences whose research bridges ongoing dialogues between South Asia and the World.
Drawing on the disciplines of literature, media, performance and sound studies, and development studies this series proposes to bring cutting edge research from South Asian scholars based around the world.Their research interrogates the positioning of South Asia within global dialogues, and complimentarily what do cultural, political, and social events reflect on the geo-politics of South Asia. The talks encompass significance of people’s movements in India, performance and protest in contemporary India, historical narratives of incarceration and memorialisation, and the politics of listening and colonial sound archives. In more ways than one, these scholarly explorations pose the question- how do multiple subjectivities and narratives in South Asia tell us about its place in the world and beyond the confines of nations, borders, and disciplines.
