Playing Around: Research, Gaming, and Impact
Part of a series of cross-Faculty impact workshops hosted by the Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy, King's Business School, the Dickson Poon School of Law, and the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences, funded by the King's Research Culture Team.
There is an exciting array of gaming related research underway at King's - from the Wargaming Network in War Studies, to AI and creativity research in NMES; from Videogames, Identity and Digital Subjectivity in Arts and Humanities, to brain training games in the IoPPN. With so much innovation and creative methods across the College, we wanted to create an opportunity to share learning and best practice.
Join us for a half-day in person event that aims to bring King's staff and academics together to explore games related research at King's.
This event will:
- Foster interdisciplinary relationships across faculties at King’s with an eye to future collaborative funding applications.
- Build a research culture that encourages cross-disciplinary engagement and impact beyond academia.
- Provide opportunities for academics to connect, share best practices, and explore gaming in research.
- Support the development of a King's gaming research network (distinct from the Wargaming Network).
The day will include:
Games-related presentations
A series of presentations on games-related research from across the College.
Themed table discussions
Participant led themed discussions related to gaming related research. Themes could include methods and design; outputs and impact; partnerships and collaborations; and more! You decide.
Poster presentations
The venue will display posters from early career researchers leading gaming related projects and initiatives.
Networking
Time will be allocated for attendees to network and meet new contacts. There will also be an optional social trip to Draughts after the event.
A seed-fund will also be made available to support further development of cross-Faculty collaborations.
Details of the full programme will be released closer to the date.
