This UK-hosted virtual panel discussion will focus on how to maintain security during the nuclear decommissioning process, ensuring that it remains proportionate and effective as potential risk and threats change.
This is becoming a priority area for the international community with a greater number of nuclear facilities requiring decommissioning.
Speakers will include academic experts and international practitioners who will share insights on key considerations and potential challenges.

Biographies
Steven Dhlomo is a Senior Manager at NECSA (South African Nuclear Energy Corporation), with over sixteen years experience at the organisation.
Kateryna Pavlova works for the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management as the Head of the Department for International Cooperation and Public Relations and as Acting Head of the State Agency for Exclusion Zone Management. She was also appointed chief of staff for the elimination of the Chernobyl fire in April 2020.
Paul Tonks is Head of Security and Resilience at the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
Ben Whittard is an experienced executive and leading authority on nuclear security and resilience. He has developed an international reputation for his expertise. Formerly a Senior Inspector at ONR, the UK nuclear regulator, he became INS’s Director of Security in 2019 where he was responsible for the security of several high-profile nuclear transports.
