An opportunity to volunteer as part of King’s Global Day of Service!

Each year in March, the King’s global alumni community give back a day in service in recognition of King’s ethos of Service. To find out more, visit the King’s Global Day of Service homepage.

Join us for a chance to volunteer at The Felix Project alongside your fellow King’s alumni. You can help support the work of London’s biggest food redistribution charity by spending the morning volunteering in their warehouse and kitchen to help prepare rescued food for their community organisations.

What will I do there?

At The Felix Project, you’ll be able to participate in different volunteering roles:

  • Warehouse assistants will help sort surplus rescued food and prepare deliveries for their community organisations
  • Kitchen assistants will support with cooking and packing nutritious ready-made meals using surplus food rescued by Felix. These meals are then delivered to community organisations in London - including charities and schools - to support people in need of food relief.

What do I need to prepare or bring for the volunteering?

You’ll need to complete a virtual health & safety training before you join the session. Once you register, the Felix Project will send you more information and access to complete the training online when it suits you.

Please wear clothing and shoes which are comfortable and easy to move in. All personal protective equipment required for the different roles will be provided for you on site.

We recommend that you arrive at the venue 10 minutes before the event is scheduled to start in order to check in with King's staff representatives.

About The Felix Project

The Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity. They work with businesses to rescue their good quality surplus food - food that would otherwise go to waste - and deliver it free of charge to hundreds of local charities and schools in London to help children and families, the elderly, the homeless, and more.

By volunteering with the Felix Project, you can help:

  • Fight hunger - last year they delivered over 38 million meals to over 1,200 charities and schools in London.
  • Stop food waste and protect the environment - by volunteering, not only are you helping to feed Londoners in need but you are also protecting the environment by preventing this precious food from ending up in landfill.
  • Make a huge difference to your local area AND to the whole of London.
  • Join a community of like-minded Londoners feeding people in need & protecting the planet.
