It’s more than making your voice heard: how experience and expertise combine to influence climate change
This seminar will take place online on Microsoft Teams. Please use the registration link to attain the online meeting link.
In this seminar, Dr Kate Greer will share research into climate change education policy influencing that occurs at the annual UN climate change conferences, or COPs, that she undertook with Prof. Heather King. Kate will introduce us to this complex policymaking environment and explain where education fits in, then share the analysis of the perspectives of eight prominent policy actors who participated in COP27, in Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt. The research, which draws on Foucauldian concepts of the ‘ensemble of power’ and ‘governmentalities’, provides valuable insight into who is likely to have access to greater influence and how individuals, including those associated with ACE, can make their COP attendance more worthwhile.
Dr Kate Greer is a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Education at UCL.
