Interdisciplinarity between the arts and humanities and the health sciences at King’s: Workshop 2 – Building interdisciplinary relationships and establishing research themes and questions
Science Gallery London, Guy’s Campus, London

In this workshop, we will focus on developing interdisciplinary relationships and establishing interdisciplinary research themes and questions, framed by current funding calls.
The workshop will include:
- Activities to help participants identify shared interests.
- Examples of effective (and less effective!) interdisciplinary practices, and interdisciplinary funding bids.
- An introduction to several current interdisciplinary funding calls from King's research development managers.
- Group explorations of potential interdisciplinary research themes, projects and research questions, in response to the example funding calls.
This is the second of four workshops that Centre for Technology and the Body are running in 2025 to foster interdisciplinary collaboration between the arts and humanities and health sciences at King’s College London. The series aims to create a space for research relationships that may lead to future funding bids.
You do not need to have attended previous workshops to join this one – please do come along if you are interested!
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Who: This series aims to create a space for research relationships at King’s that may lead to future funding bids, and these workshops are therefore primarily aimed at King’s researchers, with some additional places reserved for King’s professional services staff and final year doctoral students.

To allow ideas and relationships to build, we hope that attendees will be able to attend multiple workshops in our series (you can book these now and add them to your calendar!) Next dates include:
- Tuesday 20 May 2025, 1-4PM, at Bush House, North East, Room 1.03.
- Wednesday 11 June 2025, 1 – 4PM, at Lecture Theatre A, London Institute for Healthcare Engineering: Funding applications – next steps and planning.
To keep the conversation going, these dates will later be followed by a monthly series of ‘brown bag’ meetings for sharing work in progress, and ideas and challenges. These will further enable cross-faculty networking and support Early Career Researchers to develop their work.
The Centre for Technology and the Body is part of the Digital Futures institute, that explores how we live well with technology. We welcome collaborative, critical investigation of the history, present and future of technology (from the scalpel to the touch screen) and how it intersects with our physical, sensory, and emotional worlds.
