Professor Mariam Molokhia
A Journey through Health Inequalities
Abstract
I have consolidated my research programme in cardiovascular, renal disease and drug safety. This has included extensive work in prescribing, adverse drug reactions and pharmacogenomics (including securing funding with international partners). More recently my work has encompassed disparities in cardiovascular, metabolic and kidney disease and digital health interventions.
I manage a diverse team of researchers and students. I have been successful in obtaining funding from the NIHR, NHSE, MRC and Industry: Pharma (Pfizer, AstraZeneca), Sana Biotech, NHS RHO, Serious Adverse Events Consortium (Collaboration of Academia and Industry), Kidney Research UK and others. As Partnerships lead for our recent Community-centred research bids, I successfully leveraged £7M of matched funding and oversaw our Team’s consultations with over 100 multi-sectoral Partners, including industry, government and charity. My research is highly collaborative and cross-disciplinary including overseeing a multi-disciplinary team of ECRs.
