Professor Mariam Molokhia
A Journey through Health Inequalities
Abstract
My research programme encompasses cardiovascular and kidney disease, complex traits, and drug safety. My lecture will present a narrative on health inequalities from studies of genetic epidemiology and ancestry to translational strategies for population health in the digital era: from the docklands of the Titanic to Trinidad and beyond! The lecture will explore how genetics, epidemiology and community based intervention trials can inform ways to improve population health through implementation science, reflecting on the importance of sustainable partnerships in primary care, underpinned by outstanding teamwork. I will reflect on my continuing personal journey in research and education supported by all those who have made this possible.
