About this event

Join us for the third ‘How to…’ event of the 2024-25 academic year, hosted by the King’s Alumni Relations Team in collaboration with King’s Edge.

In this session, we will hear from King’s alumna Farrah Storr MBE, former Editor-in-Chief of Cosmopolitan UK and Elle magazines. We will talk about how to lead change both in your personal and professional life and discuss how embracing discomfort can help turn your goals into reality.

About our speaker: Farrah Storr MBE

Since graduating from King’s with a degree in French with English Literature in 2001, Farrah has become an award-winning writer and editor.

As Editor-in-Chief of Cosmopolitan and Elle, Farrah championed diversity in the media industry, earning an MBE in 2018 for services to media and diversity, alongside multiple awards from the Professional Publishers Association and the British Magazine Editors Awards. That same year, Farrah wrote The Discomfort Zone: How To Get What You Want by Living Fearlessly, drawing on personal experiences and guiding readers to embrace discomfort in pursuit of their goals.

Farrah is now Head of Writer Partnerships at newsletter platform Substack UK, spearheading the recruitment of new UK writers. Farrah has spoken widely on the issue of inequality and was appointed Commissioner for the Social Mobility Commission in 2018 and Board Member of the National Theatre in 2021.

Doors open at 17:40, with the session starting at 18:00. The event will feature a structured conversation, followed by an audience Q&A.
