King's College London are looking forward to welcoming Professor Konrad Schmid of Zurich to London on Wednesday 15th March for the King's/UCL Hebrew Bible Workshop followed by the Ethel M. Wood Lecture.
The Ethel M Wood Lecture is a University of London annual lecture which was endowed by Mrs Ethel M. Wood in 1947. It is administered jointly on behalf of the University by the Department of Theology at Heythrop College and the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at King's. Since its foundation in 1947 many distinguished speakers have lectured on topics within the broad field of Biblical Studies. The lectures are designed for students and informed members of the general public.

The day is open to all, and free of charge.
The venue will be the Council Room of the King’s Building of King’s College London, in the Strand.
Konrad Schmid
Konrad Schmid is Professor of Hebrew Bible and Ancient Judaism at the University of Zurich. From 1999-2002 he was Professor of Hebrew Bible at the University of Heidelberg. He is associated with both the Institute for Advanced Study and the Center of Theological Inquiry at Princeton and has been a Fellow of the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies in Jerusalem. From 2019-2022, he served as President of the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament. His many publications include Genesis and the Moses Story: Israel’s Dual Origins in the Hebrew Bible (2010), The Old Testament: A Literary History (2012), Is There Theology in the Hebrew Bible? (2015), and A Historical Theology of the Hebrew Bible (2019).
