Educators' Workshop Two: Student Voice – connecting languages with other subjects
King's Building, Strand Campus, London
The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at King’s College London is pleased to invite language educators to join us in our upcoming workshop, dedicated to exploring Student Voice: connecting languages with other subjects.
We will hear from colleagues and students at King's College London about initiatives in our department to centre and uplift student voices (whilst improving language skills!) through creative projects.
Two wonderful external speakers will also be at the event to present and answer questions.
About the speakers
Jessica Curtis, Head of Spanish at Haberdasher's Girls' School, will be presenting her research on the topic of 'Listening-As-Modelling Pedagogy'. This investigates the often neglected but vital skill of speaking and how teaching practice can be developed to reduce learners' anxiety and boost their self-confidence and fluency when speaking the target language in class.
Michaël Vidon, bilingual poet and translator, and Head of French at Seaford Head School in Sussex, will be leading a session on including creative strategies in the language classroom.
Event details
This will be a hybrid event. However, this will be an interactive, hands-on workshop, so in-person attendance is recommended.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided and a wine reception follows the event.
