This event will be the chance for students to hear Onyinye Udokporo, recent graduate of the School of Education, Communication & Society, talk about navigating university life as a Black woman with dyslexia.
In her first book Dyslexia and Me, published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers in September 2022, Onyinye discusses her experience of being diagnosed dyslexic at 11 years old, starting a business the following year, gaining a scholarship to a prestigious boarding school and going on to complete two degrees by the age of 22, while also being honest about the difficulties she faced throughout, including with bullying and anxiety.
To kick off Disability History Month, Onyinye will share her journey and more tips with our Student Experience Officer, Alice Goode, and answer questions from the audience. There will also be the possibility to buy her book (at £10 thanks to a special discount, but we won't have a card machine so please bring cash) and get it signed by the author.
A sandwich lunch will be provided.
Please register via the button on the top right hand side, to confirm your place.
This event is only open to students and staff from King's College London.
