The Biomolecular Interactions and Optical Spectroscopy facilities at New Hunt’s house in the Randall Centre for Cell & Molecular Biophysics hold regular drop-in clinics every second Thursday of the month providing you with an opportunity to meet the team, tour the facilities and discuss your particular research requirements.

These clinics are informal and are suitable for anyone interested in learning more about biophysical approaches for the characterisation of a wide range of macromolecules.

Our state-of-the-art instrumentation includes:

• Malvern Panalytical iTC200, PEAQ-iTC, and PEAQ-iTC Automated – for the measurement of binding affinity, stoichiometry, enthalpy and entropy in a single experiment.
• Biacore T200 – for the measurement of real-time binding affinities, interaction kinetics and thermodynamics.
• Refeyn TwoMP mass photometer – for accurate mass measurements of single molecules in solution, in their native state and without the need for labels.
• Applied Photophysics Chirascan and Chirascan Plus – to gain insight and detect changes in secondary structure, allowing for the study of folding and unfolding mechanisms.
• Wyatt Technology DynaPro - high-throughput dynamic light scattering allowing for the measurement of aggregation, aggregate size distributions, and changes in solution molecular weight.
• Wyatt Technology SEC-MALS – the combination of size-exclusion chromatography with multi-angle light scattering allows the determination of molar mass and size in solution.
