About this event

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Centre for Science & Security Studies (CSSS) is hosting a special panel discussion to highlight the crucial contributions of women in diplomacy and security.

Despite significant progress, women remain underrepresented in key security domains, including disarmament, sanctions and CBRN security. This event will bring together a diverse panel of experts to discuss the challenges, opportunities and the importance of intersectionality in advancing gender equity in international security.

What to expect?

  • A dynamic panel discussion featuring a mix of early-career and established academics, moderated by Sophy Higgins. The panellists include Julia Balm, Dr Rishika Chauhan, Dr Christine Cheng and Dr Ksenia Kirkham.
  • Insights on gender, diplomacy and security from leading voices in the field.
  • An audience Q&A to engage with our panellists.
  • Light refreshments (tea, coffee and cupcakes) – feel free to bring your lunch!

Join us for this engaging conversation as we celebrate the impact of women in security and explore ways to foster greater diversity and inclusion in the field.
