Chair: Dr Amanda Chisholm, Senior Lecturer in Security Studies / Researcher in Gender and Security
Speaker: Dr Toni Haastrup, Senior Lecturer in International Politics at the University of Stirling
In this EDI café chat we will be talking to co-author of 'Equalities in freefall? Ontological insecurity and the long‐term impact of COVID‐19 in the academy' and a leading expert on race and gender in security studies. Dr Haastrup discusses her recent co-authored piece and broader reflections on how COVID-19 has made clear the existing structural racism and sexism within higher education, that makes certain communities much more precarious before, during, and post shocks such as a pandemic. We discuss with her why this is the case, and what we need to do to foster a more inclusive and secure working environment in Higher Education.
You can find a copy of her recent article here.
