In this Connecting with Charities webinar, we highlight the important work being done to address period poverty, both in the UK and around the world and welcome individuals and organisations who are shedding light on this critical issue and working to alleviate the challenges faced by girls and women.

We’ll be joined by:

Dr Alison Briggs, Researcher at the University of Manchester whose research into Period Poverty in Stoke-On-Trent, offered insight into the role of political and social functions in reproducing and reinforcing inequalities for those experiencing “period poverty.”

Manjit Gill, MBE, Founder and CEO of Binti International the first period charity registered in the UK, India and US. Binti International focuses on provide menstrual dignity to all girls, all over the world – from improving access to products, educating girls and boys about menstruation and dispelling stigma, taboos and negative perceptions around menstruation.

Ella Lambert, CEO and Founder of The Pachamama Project a grassroots charity who mobilised a network of volunteers to make reusable sanitary pads for refugees and vulnerable people, who experience period poverty. Since founding the organisation in 2020, the Pachamama Project has distributed over 120,000 pads – a mission that King’s Volunteering will support this year.
