Building the Data Infrastructure to Help Us Achieve Net Zero
Good policies are grounded in evidence and effective rules are a core part of solving climate change. Decision makers need to be able to find and make sense of existing evidence, to create the foundations for meaningful, impactful action on climate. However, data about laws, policy and international agreements - and which ones work - is sparse, siloed and not readily available.
In this conversation Dr Michal Nachmany will talk with Dr Aurélien Saussay about the work of her team which seeks to use Machine Learning and Generative AI to clean and organise climate legislation data across geographies and jurisdictions. Michal will describe how their approach combines human intelligence with artificial intelligence and is rooted in a commitment to justice. Aurélien will discuss his empirical work to estimate the impacts of climate change mitigation on economic agents in order to help improve the design of decarbonisation policies.
This event is a collaboration between the King’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence and the LSE Data Science Institute.
