The Chaplaincy invites you to a Vespers service in the Lutheran tradition with music by J.S. Bach and his contemporaries (although all the music for this particular service is by JSB). It is also opportunity to witness the debut performance of the Bach Collegium London, a new baroque project directed by King's Music Lecturer Alexander Douglas that welcomes a wonderfully diverse array of singers and players from King's, Trinity Laban, UCL and elsewhere. Part of the project's motivation is to reimagine the baroque era and oeuvre as one in which there is room for many more identities than was the case during that time. Irrespective of whether you are religious or not, this is a fantastic opportunity to hear a Bach cantata and other music in a liturgical setting within the faith context in which he lived his entire life.
This Vespers service will be led by King's Lutheran Chaplain, the Rev. Sarah Farrow.
