Our department has a diverse, active and far-reaching alumni community, reflecting the strengths of our degree programmes. Many of our former students have successful careers in journalism, theatre, publishing and the creative industries, in education or research.
Our connections with our former students foster energy and community, building ties between former and current students: we invite exemplary alumni to speak at a number of English careers events (including ‘speed-meets’, panel discussions, lectures and more informal collegial gatherings) throughout the academic year, which offer guidance and advice for undergraduates. These direct our students towards opportunities and prospects, while also offering them the chance to talk with alumni about all aspects of the journey from King's out into the world.
Our graduates are academics and educators, agents, editors and publishers, journalists in new and traditional media, writers of all sorts and creative types across the board. They have achieved great things in the worlds of management, law, the public sector and consultancy, alongside the literary arts and arts administration. Others work in policy and government; others in communications and marketing.
Of our most recent alumni, the majority are pursuing academic research and higher education, or careers in performance and the creative arts, public relations, publishing and journalism.
