Career Paths

Studying English opens doors to careers across a range of industries, from law to marketing to the arts.

The skills gained an English degree – such as critical thinking, problem-solving and communication – bring value to all workplaces and industries, setting our graduates apart.

We spoke to six graduates from our Department to hear about their jobs and industries, how studying English shaped their career journeys, and their memories of being at King's.

If you're a current or prospective student and would like to learn more about careers after an English degree, find out about our Careers in Literature events.

Students review Booker Prize 2024 shortlisted novels

Our students were challenged with writing mini-reviews of the novels shortlisted for the Booker Prize 2024, in partnership with King's Libraries.

Activities like this help students to develop their employability skills and build a portfolio of published work, ready to support them with job applications once they finish their studies.
