About climate and sustainability at King’s
Enabling societal transition to environmental sustainability is a...
The success of King’s Climate Action Network (King’s CAN) has demonstrated that King’s students and staff want to see the university work with, and support, its local communities to take action on climate and sustainability.
Until now, most sustainability initiatives have been within King’s, focusing on our campuses and engaging our students and staff.
To kickstart work with our local communities, the King’s Sustainability team and King’s CAN members launched a listening campaign in 2022-23 with local communities and community organisations to hear first-hand about the climate and sustainability challenges they face.
We have partnered up with Citizens UK who are a people powered alliance of diverse local communities working together for the common good. They are experts on the topic of community organising and listening and provide guidance and training.
Through the listening campaign, we hope to support our local communities to take action, identify how King’s students and staff can work with them and develop initiatives and projects that build long-term positive relationships on climate and sustainability.
