What problem are you seeking to solve through Blitzo? How did you get from ‘light bulb’ moment to where you are today?
At Blitzo, we’re addressing the need for fast, reliable, and affordable same-day delivery in London, tailored to the lifestyle of urban consumers who demand convenience without compromise. As e-commerce and on-demand services grow, traditional courier options often fall short in either speed, cost-effectiveness, and/or environmental responsibility. Blitzo bridges this gap with a hyperlocal model that promises a 15-minute pick-up window, eco-friendly e-bike deliveries, and a seamless user experience through our mobile app.
From the outset, we focused on market research to validate our model, identifying multiple use cases from forgotten items to sourcing and delivering garments in the fashion industry. We've built a network of independent riders, leveraging their experience on platforms like Deliveroo and Uber Eats to keep our operations lean and responsive. Through strategic planning, continuous app refinement (based on user feedback), and a sustainable approach, Blitzo has evolved from concept to a trusted delivery solution that’s set to scale across London and beyond.
Why did you apply to take part in the King’s Start-up Accelerator?
The King's Start-up Accelerator presented an opportunity to leverage a unique ecosystem of support and resources. Upon learning about the accelerator we saw that it offered expert mentoring, investor networking opportunities, and hands-on workshops tailored to start-up growth. We also recognised that being part of the accelerator would connect us with a community of founders, creating a collaborative environment that encourages progress. Additionally, the accelerator’s focus on personal and leadership development through coaching aligned with our commitment to building a strong foundation, both for Blitzo and for us as co-founders.
To date, these resources have been instrumental in sharpening our strategies across key areas like sales and marketing, enabling us to approach each challenge with a clear, effective plan. The accelerator has also connected us with other founders, fostering an environment where we can share insights and provide support to each other.
What’s been key to your venture’s growth?
Being agile and moving quickly in every aspect of the business—from rapidly rolling out features to swiftly adapting to the evolving industry landscape. Being technical co-founders with computer science backgrounds, means we've kept everything in-house. Using our own expertise has been instrumental to our agility and growth.
We also place a strong emphasis on gathering customer feedback, allowing us to continuously validate and refine our service to meet users' real needs. This approach, combined with a focus on operational efficiency has enabled us to expand Blitzo’s reach and impact.
What’s your one piece of advice for other students or alumni looking to start a business?
Focus on taking small, consistent steps without overthinking. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the goal of reaching the top, but the journey becomes manageable when you concentrate on each step rather than the entire climb. Break down the path into achievable milestones, and you'll find that progress is often simpler than it initially seems.
