The King’s UG Summer English Language & Culture Programme is a two-week course (45 contact hours) aimed at students who want to continue developing their English language skills alongside studying aspects of UK culture on campus in London. This intensive course is for students who are at a B2 level in the (CEFR) and takes an active-learning, communicative approach to develop confidence and fluency in English.
Teaching takes place between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Friday in one of our central London campuses. Students will receive their module timetable before they arrive on campus in January 2025.
Attendance
Attendance at all sessions is compulsory and will be monitored by the Summer Programmes office.
Assessment
Students will be expected to complete a Group Presentation during the programme. On successful completion of the project, students will receive a certificate of participation. This course is not credit bearing.
King's College London Undergraduate Winter School is open to students who are currently, or have been, enrolled in an undergraduate degree programme. We will also accept applications from students who hold an offer for an undergraduate degree programme, but all students on this programme must be over 18 years of age.
You should ensure that you are eligible to apply before you submit your application by checking our English language criteria.
Please provide evidence of your English proficiency from the list below:
- IELTS score of 5.5 (or equivalent)
- TOEFL paper-based test: we require a minimum of 470
- TOEFL internet-based test: we require a minimum of 52
- TOEFL computer-based test: we require a minimum of 150
- Duolingo English, we require a minimum test score of 95
- CET 4 (China): we require a score of 425 or above
- UEE (University Entrance Exam China): we require equivalent level B2 in CEFR

Requirements:
- You must be aged 18 or over.
- You must be, have been, or will be, enrolled in an undergraduate degree programme.
- Your English language level must be at B2 in CEFR or equivalent level.
Application form guidance:
- Fill out your personal details.
- Submit proof of your language level, as well as your place in university. If you have been taught in English, your degree transcript/certificate must show that the language of instruction was English. In this case, you are not required to submit separate evidence of English language proficiency.
- Pay the application fee and add the payment reference in the application form. (Applicants from partner institutions will not need to pay this fee and will skip this step).
- Check and submit your application.

- If successful, we will ask you to pay the course tuition fee and agree to our Terms & Conditions and the Student Code of Conduct.
- Upon receipt of payment, your place on the course will be confirmed.
