The Yeoh Tiong Lay Centre of Politics, Philosophy and Law launches a new LLM Scholarship providing full tuition fee waiver and generous stipend towards living costs for students domiciled in Malaysia.

Award details

The YTL LLM Scholarship will be awarded to one student domiciled in Malaysia and undertaking the Master of Laws (LLM) programme within The Dickson Poon School of Law, on a full-time basis starting in September 2025.

The LLM Scholarship is enabled by a generous contribution from The YTL Group to provide innovative education and inspire a new generation to become visionary thinkers, develop a desire to be the best in their field, and to make a significant, positive, lasting impact in society. The prestigious award will be given to an exceptional student who can demonstrate financial hardship and how financial support could impact them at King’s.

 

Award value

Scholarships will cover a full tuition fee waiver and stipend at the UKRI level.

Eligibility criteria

In order to be eligible to apply, prospective students must:

  1. Be a citizen and permanent resident of Malaysia
  2. Fulfil the entry requirements of the Master of Laws (LLM) programme. Namely:
    • Meet English language proficiency tests requirements of “Band B” (see King’s English Language requirements page for more information)
    • Apply to the Master of Laws (LLM) programme 2025-26 using the King’s online application portal apply.kcl.ac.uk
  3. Demonstrate strong ability, potential and commitment to complete the LLM
  4. Demonstrate high academic achievements or equivalent practical experience
  5. Demonstrate an interest in topics related to Politics, Philosophy and Law
  6. Demonstrate how financial support will impact them at King’s

 

Application process

Applications close at 5:00pm UK time on 09 March 2025.

Applicants must click on the “Apply” button on the top right side of this page and complete the online application form that follows.

Within the application form, students will have to provide the following documents (in English):

  • An updated CV
  • A supporting statement (up to 500 words), highlighting why they should be awarded the scholarship.

IMPORTANT: The students applying to the scholarship are expected to have applied to the Master of Laws (LLM) programme using King’s online application portal apply.kcl.ac.uk.

Selection process

A dedicated King’s team will shortlist the candidates who meet the above-mentioned eligibility criteria. The successful candidate will be selected out of that shortlist by a Law Scholarship Panel who will issue its final decision.
