King's College London is delighted to offer the International Child Rights Scholarship for five exceptional home or overseas students starting in September 2025.
Award details
The scholarship is open to students who are applying to the MA International Child Rights and Development programme at King’s College London. Successful applicants for the Scholarship must also receive an offer and fulfil all conditions of entry to receive the tuition fee discount.
Award value
The monetary value of each scholarship is £5,000, distributed in the form of tuition discount.
We intend to offer 3 of these awards to overseas students, and 2 awards to home students. Please note that the final awards may be allocated differently, depending on who applies.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Receive an offer to enrol in the MA International Child Rights and Development programme, starting in September 2025. You can apply for the scholarship prior to an offer having been made
- Demonstrate a strong academic record
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to International Child Rights · Provide a letter of support from a person who is able to tell us more about your commitment to international child rights, written on official letter-headed paper and signed

Application Materials
Applicants must submit the following by the following deadlines:
Overseas students: 5pm (UK time) 23 May 2025
Home students: 5pm (UK time) 23 June 2025
- A personal statement of up to 500 words outlining why you are applying for the scholarship, and your involvement in academic and non-academic initiatives to advance child rights. You will be able to include your personal statement in the application form.
- A reference letter (max 2 pages) from someone who is able to tell us more about your commitment to the International Child Rights programme, and reasons you deserve the scholarship. This must be written on official letter-headed paper and signed. This should be emailed to aisha.hutchinson@kcl.ac.uk and ecs-pgt@kcl.ac.uk with the subject of the email as "MA International Child Rights and Development Scholarship 2025-26 Application" by the scholarship deadline. You can submit your application first, and then submit your reference letter at a later date, by no later than the above deadlines.
Submit all materials by the above deadlines. Late applications will not be considered.
Selection process
In cases where applications exceed the number of available scholarships, preference will be given to candidates who:
- Demonstrate strong academic track record
- Demonstrate a long term and commitment to advancing and developing global child rights in local contexts, through both academic and non-academic initiatives (e.g., research, volunteering or work).
- Present a persuasive rationale for how the course will positively impact their personal and professional development.
For students holding conditional offers, the scholarship is dependent on meeting all conditions and successfully enrolling in the course.
Waitlist
If scholarships are allocated to students holding conditional offers, a waitlist may be maintained in case conditions are not met.
