Three scholarships are available for home Black and Black-mixed applicants from Greater London holding a firm offer to study an eligible three-year undergraduate degree programme at King's.

Award details

The Raheem Sterling Foundation envisions a world where young people will always have the support they need in the pursuit of improving their opportunities, their future careers and their quality of life.

Through his charitable organisation, Raheem Sterling is dedicated to helping those from disadvantaged backgrounds break down barriers to success, find their voice, and realise their true potential in the world.

Award value

The Raheem Sterling scholarships will cover the course tuition fees and a significant contribution to living costs.

The award will be paid in the form of an annual fee waiver for the amount of £9,535 per student and a cash award for the amount of £7,000 per student.

The award is for a maximum of three years. Students will not receive funding for repeat years, a year abroad or interruptions.

 

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the Raheem Sterling scholarship, applicants must:

 

  • Have firmly accepted an offer to study for an undergraduate full time degree programme at King’s College London starting in September 2025.
  • Identify as belonging to one of the following ethnic groups:
    • Black or Black British – Caribbean
    • Black or Black British – African
    • Mixed - white and Black Caribbean
    • Mixed - white and Black African
    • Other Black background
  • Have been assessed for fee status as a 'home' student.
  • Have a home postcode from the Greater London area as stated in their UCAS application

 

Preference will be given to students:

  1. Who have a home postcode in the London borough of Brent, and/or
  2. With a household income of £43,000 per annum or less (preference given to those with the lowest household income), and/or
  3. Who have attended a lower-than-average attaining school for GCSEs (measured by Progress 8)
  4. From a Priority Group: Care-Experienced, Estranged, Forced Migrants, Young Carers (kcl.ac.uk/wp), and/or
  5. Eligible for contextual admissions at King’s College London (kcl.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/how-to-apply/contextualised-admissions)

Successful recipients must be willing to report annually on their progress at King’s to the Raheem Sterling Foundation.

Application process

Applications for the scholarship are made directly to King’s using this application form.

Applicants will be asked to confirm they meet the eligibility criteria and will submit a short statement.
