King’s College London is pleased to offer the Li Ka Shing Foundation Lord Sandberg Memorial Scholarships worth £15,000 each to two students annually from Hong Kong.

Award details

The Li Ka Shing Foundation Lord Sandberg Memorial Scholarship has been established by the Li Ka Shing Foundation, in memory of Lord Michael Sandberg of Passfield, OBE, CBE, who passed away in 2017 and was considered a true friend of Hong Kong.

The Li Ka Shing Foundation Lord Sandberg Memorial Scholarship has been set up to support permanent Hong Kong residents planning to study a full-time three year undergraduate course at King’s.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the applicant’s academic record and financial need, the latter of which will be determined by a personal statement. Students from any Hong Kong schools are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to students from a local school.

Award value

Two scholarships will be available and the total value of the award per recipient is £15,000 (£5,000 per year for three years) to support tuition fees. Please note any residual fee balances will still need to be met by the recipient.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Permanent Hong Kong resident
  • Outstanding academic performance
  • Provide a personal statement expressing how you have experienced financial hardship
  • Undertaking a full-time three year undergraduate programme at King’s, starting in Sept 2023.

Application process

Please complete the online application form and email any requested supporting documentation to funding@kcl.ac.uk, along with a separate supporting statement as a separate Word/pdf document titled in the format "SURNAME, Forename - supporting statement - Li Ka Shing Scholarship." 

Academic Qualifications

As part of the application process you will need to provide details of academic qualifications. Where your A-Level or equivalent qualification results are not yet available, please provide details of your predicted grades.

Once your final results are available, please provide these by email to the Student Funding Office by email.

 

 
 

Selection process

The panel will make their final decision following the receipt of students' final grades.
