A full studentship to be awarded to an incoming PhD student in the Dickson Poon School of Law. The subject area of proposed PhD research must relate to the centre’s research themes and European Law.

Award details

This is a fully funded studentship that includes 3 years of fees + a maintenance stipend at the UKRI level with a London weighting.

Stipend: UKRI rate

Tuition fees: Covers full tuition (Home or international)

Other: Covers pending submission fee £350

Eligibility criteria

Must be accepted on the Law Research MPhil/PhD programme for October 2025. The subject area of proposed PhD research must relate to the centre’s research themes and European Law as broadly defined. See the Centre of European Law for more information.

Award conditions

Awards are offered on the condition that the candidate has met/will meet all the conditions required for acceptance by the Dickson Poon School of Law. Awards are only valid for commencement in October 2025 and cannot be deferred. Awards cannot be transferred to another institution. Full conditions available upon offer.

Please apply to the Dickson Poon School of Law MPhil/PhD programme. On the funding section of your King’s Apply Admissions Application Form, ensure you tick the box ‘Applied to a King’s funding scheme’ and enter the code below.

Selection process

Applicants will be assessed by our Scholarship Panel in the spring which will rank candidate applications using RCUK scoring. Scoring is based on the applicant’s academic potential (50%) and the quality of their research proposal and its fit with the Centre (50%). Centre of European Law directors will select one recipient out of the Scholarship Panel shortlist.
