Role: Events and Communications Officer, King's College London My career after King's: Organising events for the various institutes and departments in the School of Global Affairs. I write and create features, news content, videos and podcasts. How King's helped me: The diversity of the school opportunities offered me space to try new things. My top career tip: Communications is a fascinating and diverse field. It offers a great opportunity to reach new and different audiences.
Role: Officer, Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Interior Presidency of Migration Management My career after King's: My current role is mainly focusing on the voluntary return and reintegration policies for refugees. How King's helped me: King's College London helped me to improve my work from a security perspective on international relations. It was a multifaceted approach that expanded my horizons. My top career tip: Be curious, passionate and open-minded as it will help you to move forward in your career path. To move forward, don't afraid to take risks.
Role: Public Health Programme Manager, States of Guernsey My career after King's: In my role, I write many of our Public Health Strategies and policy papers. I have been able to work on modernisation of our local abortion law, development of a new Mental Health & Wellbeing Strategy, policies related to Substance Use (tobacco, alcohol and drugs) as well as development of a Healthier Weight Strategy. How King's helped me: My undergraduate degree was absolutely perfect in setting me up for my current role. Now, I have opportunities to reach my potential. I had a broad background knowledge regarding both public and global health, with research skills and knowledge that has been incredibly transferable. My top career tip: Follow what you enjoy. I'm never bored and I enjoy my role wholeheartedly. King's was the core foundation in me being able to achieve this.
Role: Communications Advisor, UAE Government My career after King's: Raising awareness about the UAE Nuclear Energy Programme How King's helped me: The MA programme required extensive time and effort and was an eye opener for me to add more skills to my expertise. My Dissertation was an enriching journey where I employed methodology learnt at King's to explore the use of open source information in an international organisational context and used the Iran Nuclear Deal as a case study. My top career tip: Studying at King’s College London is rewarding and beneficial for the future. I advise you to always do further research to learn about your topic. Patience, focus and perseverance are perquisites to achieve your future goals.
Role: Deputy Head of Doctoral College (Quality Operations) & PhD researcher in Military & Strategic Studies, City University London My career after King's: I oversee the quality of research degrees on behalf of Senate. This includes but is not limited to the management and development of the PhD research system and policies, as well as expert advice on the strategic direction of research degrees at City. How King's helped me: The institution's name and the department's name make an impact! Also, specialising in intelligence and security studies gives you multi-layered skills that you can use in many disciplines and jobs. My top career tip: Try things that inspire you and keep you motivated, even if it is not the norm.
