AI for Business: The Fundamentals
Course overview
This short course addresses the growing need for business professionals and organisational leaders to understand the opportunities and challenges of adopting artificial intelligence (AI) in their respective fields. With AI technologies increasingly shaping industries, professionals must be equipped with the knowledge to make informed decisions about integrating AI into their operations.
The course is designed for mid-senior business professionals and SME owners who seek to understand the opportunities and challenges of adopting artificial intelligence into their business. It is also suitable for leaders working in other organisations who are responsible for understanding the implications of AI adoption, or who would like to become more knowledgeable about the potential for AI adoption in their organisation.
Combining theoretical understanding with practical application, you will gain foundational understanding of key concepts and principles of AI and their relevance to a range of business contexts. At the end of this course you will be better equipped to evaluate opportunities for AI adoption in your organisation and you will understand the strategic, operational and ethical issues that you need to consider.
What does this course cover?
You will study the following four modules. Each module is delivered in two parts.
Module 1: Demystifying AI for Business will introduce you to different types of AI and their business applications. You will improve your understanding of industry-specific AI implementations and explore success stories and lessons learned.
Module 2: Getting Started with Prompt Engineering allows you to understand Large Language Models (LLMs) and move from basic principles of prompt writing to more advanced techniques. Understand the structure and components of effective prompts and be able to apply them to your business context.
Module 3: Getting Started with Data gives you a grounding in principles of data literacy including data management, data quality and a better understanding of the types of data relevant to AI and data readiness.
Module 4: AI Ethics and Responsible Innovation guides you through key considerations for responsible AI adoption such as understanding bias in AI systems, transparency and explainability, and intellectual property and LLMs. This module will also provide a grounding from which you can begin to develop an AI strategy and assess your organisational readiness.

Who is this for?
There are no formal entry requirements fot this short course. No previous AI knowledge is necessary.
You will need access to a device with a stable internet connection for pre-recorded sessions, a webcam, and a microphone to participate in live sessions.
How will I be assessed?
There is no formal assessment but there will be a multiple choice knowledge consolidation quiz.
