International

The School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences, together with other Schools in The Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, carries out initiatives aimed at raising King’s profile as a thought-leader in areas of global significance and attracting the best international minds to King’s.

We are committed to implementing the King’s Vision 2029. King’s actively seeks to position itself as a critical global presence, both professionally and ethically. Our activities in the School and College are underpinned by the following strategic priorities:

  1. Invest in strategic partnerships with world-class institutions
  2. Create an ethical and enabling environment for King’s international activities
  3. Provide a genuinely international decolonised curriculum
  4. Integrate international students using a cultural competency approach

As the School International Lead, Professor Giovanni Mann interacts closely with International Leads in other Schools, the Centre for Education and with colleagues from King's Internationalisation and King's Professional and Executive Programmes. The School’s close interactions with the Centre for Doctoral Studies facilitates the integration of our international students.

In this context, our School has contributed to establishing a China Dragon’s Forum, which is a student-led group recruited from Schools across the The Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine. The group aims to help Chinese students get used to life in London, providing career advice, academic skills training and public engagement. This forum is run monthly focusing on different topics, with further support from Dr Deborah Cunningham Graham, the Faculty Lead for Doctoral Student Welfare. Jie Tang from the Department of Imaging Chemistry & Biology, School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences is responsible for securing funding for the China Dragons Forum, which will be used for postgraduate training courses and public engagement. is supporting this Forum.
