Our Impact and Public Engagement

A thriving and policy-relevant research culture

Our faculty members advise governments, serve on commissions and public bodies and support national and international organisations engaged in the world of public affairs.

Much of our work has a public policy dimension and members of the department regularly appear in the media and hold conversations with the domestic and international policy-making community.

Three things I know: PR and the gender gap in voting

On this podcast, Dr Mona Morgan-Collins talks about effects on turnout in high and low competition contests, and the effects on the gender voting gap - which is still very much an issue outside a narrow range of countries in high salience elections.

The episode also examines the value of the historical data that can reveal these long-range patterns.
