The Policy Institute is working with Dame Margaret Hodge, MP for Barking and a Visiting Professor at King's, to conduct a qualitative research project examining attitudes towards immigration, integration and changing communities among residents of Barking and Dagenham, a borough that has experienced some of the most rapid demographic changes in the UK.
The purpose of the project is to identify, through interviews with residents, barriers to cohesion and integration, with the aim of better understanding residents’ experiences of diversity and change.
The study seeks to identify interventions that could facilitate greater cohesion and integration at a neighbourhood, local authority and city level.
