Postgraduate Funding

There are a number of ways in which you can obtain financial support to help you through your postgraduate studies. The College Fees & Funding pages contain plenty of information about financing your postgraduate studies, including Scholarships that may be open to you. Many of these competitions are open to students across the Faculty, but there are also a number of awards specifically for students in the Department of Philosophy.

This studentship honours Richard Sorabji, Emeritus Professor of Ancient Philosophy in the Department. Each year the Department awards one or more studentships to graduate students in the Department, taking into account academic merit and financial need.

The total amount available is currently £2,000 each year.

NB Although a single award is possible, where there are a number of deserving candidates the award will be split.

To be eligible for these awards, a student must be due to spend the coming academic year on the MPhilStud or MPhil/PhD programme in the philosophy department at King's College London.

To apply, please send:

A copy of your (academic) CV; and a covering letter, addressed to 'The Department of Philosophy funding panel', detailing your current academic status, plans for the forthcoming academic year, and any other information you feel might support your application. You should also mention other sources of funding you have applied for and/or successfully obtained.

To be considered, please send the above documents in electronic form only (as doc or PDF attachments) to philosophy@kcl.ac.uk.

One application will result in your being considered for all awards for which you are eligible.

We hope that this added incentive will give you extra reason to apply!
