What attracted you to the BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies programme at King's?

Firstly, King's College London is world-renowned for its nursing courses, which meant I would receive first-class training and support. Secondly, I was excited about the opportunity to move from studying in China to the UK. It was a great way to broaden my horizons and learn from a global perspective.

How did you find the experience?

My experience at King's and the journey leading up to it has been indescribable and immensely rewarding. Not only have I improved my English and gained advanced nursing knowledge, but I've also developed crucial independence and critical thinking skills that I know will serve me well throughout my life. This experience has been truly transformative and has made me a more capable and confident individual.

What was the best thing about your time on the programme?

It may sound strange, but I really enjoy the assignments. In China, I rarely had the opportunity to delve into research topics of personal interest. However, during the programme I completed over 10 research projects with the guidance of my supervisors and the support of my peers. This experience enhanced my research skills and deepened my understanding of topics I'm passionate about.

What were your plans when you graduated, have you achieved them?

Initially, I thought to pursue further education in nursing after graduation. However, my time and studies at King's sparked a deep interest in public health. I adjusted my plans accordingly and enrolled on the MSc Global Health postgraduate programme. Now that I've successfully completed my degree, I'm looking forward to the next chapter of my life, contributing to public health initiatives.

What impact has this programme had on your life and career?

It has changed the way I think, enabling me to look at issues from different perspectives and levels. I've gained confidence in communicating with people from different cultural backgrounds and in giving public speeches in both English and Chinese. In addition, the concept of evidence-based practice has become an integral part of my daily life and professional endeavours; I now instinctively seek solutions based on sound evidence when faced with challenges or decisions. Overall, the programme has provided me with invaluable skills and perspectives that continue to shape my personal and professional development.

What would you say to students from Nanjing who are thinking about studying at King's?

I would say go for it. Meeting the application requirements can be challenging, but studying at King's has been one of the best experiences of my life, profoundly changing me and opening up opportunities I never imagined. I truly believe that you will find your own unique benefits during this journey.
