The Centre of Medical Law and Ethics, the first of its kind in the United Kingdom, is an international leader in research and teaching in the field of medical law and ethics. It is part of  The Dickson Poon School of Law and is directed by Professor Rosamund Scott.

The Centre has particular research and research-led teaching strengths in law and ethics at the end of life, ethical and legal issues in reproduction, the ethics of autism and disability, mental health ethics and law. It runs a long-standing and highly acclaimed MA in Medical Ethics and Law and a more recently developed MA in Medical Law. In collaboration with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, the Centre also now offers an MSc in Mental Health, Ethics & Law

The members of the Centre have a record of attracting high-level research grant support and making an impact on policy debate and development, regulation and clinical practice through their research. As part of King’s College London, the Centre has close links with the Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine, as well as with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience.
