Research

King’s is one of the leading centres for mathematics research in the UK. We aim to foster a vibrant and innovative environment, with many researchers working across interdisciplinary collaborations both internally within King’s and externally.

Our research covers a broad range of sub-disciplines of Computer Science including from interdisciplinary perspectives, with the aim of exploring fundamental scientific questions as well as responding to key societal challenges and opportunities in an increasingly complex digital world.

Partnership exist within the faculty, with researchers working with computer scientists and physicists, as well as with research institutes in the health faculties, including with the Randall Centre for Cell and Molecular Biophysics. Externally they work with the Francis Crick Institute and industrial partners such as EDF Research, the Pensions Policy Institute, and Unilever.

Our research groups

Our research groups cover a wide range of fields within the discipline. This includes applied mathematics such as disordered systems, statistics and financial mathematics; and pure mathematics through research groups on analysis, geometry, number theory and probability. We also have a highly renowned theoretical physics group.
