Mathematics Fellowships

We welcome applications from excellent candidates for fellowships. We encourage expressions of interest from underrepresented groups, including women and minority ethnic candidates.

Current fellowships

We are currently accepting expressions of interest for the following opportunities; please read the application instructions carefully, as these vary depending on the opportunity:

Upcoming fellowships

 How to apply

  • Confirm a Sponsor: Applicants must first identify and make contact with a potential sponsor, a staff list is available here. The sponsor should be an academic who is working in the relevant field to the applicant’s proposal. An initial discussion between the prospective applicant and sponsor must take place about the proposal to ensure mutual interest and to gain confirmation of the sponsor’s willingness to support the application. The sponsor must be made aware of the administrative responsibilities this role will entail.
  • Sponsor to complete an Expression of Interest Form: The sponsor will then complete an Expression of Interest form on behalf of the applicant; this form collects basic details of the scheme and a CV from the applicant. The Deputy Head of Department (Research) will then liaise and discuss the application with the sponsor.

Note that a small % FTE of the supervisor's time may be costed into the application, depending on the scheme. Competitive grants, e.g. the ERC, will require strong endorsement by the group and department due to the time commitment of supporting such applications.

What happens next

The Deputy Head of Department (Research) will consider applications, liaising with the sponsor, and the applicant will receive an email confirmation of the outcome from mathematics-research@kcl.ac.uk. For those fellowships with application caps, the selection process will be conducted at College level. For any enquiries, please contact us.
