The PG Certificate in Applied Research Methods for Integrated Academic Trainees
The PG Certificate in Applied Research Methods for Integrated Academic Trainees is an integral part of ACFs' academic skills development. It is therefore mandatory that all ACFs starting on the IAT programme enrol on this programme.
The aim of the programme is to increase trainees’ depth of knowledge, technical and transferable skills in an integrated manner to enhance their current and future roles in translational research and evidence-based health care as an independent and self critical learner.
The course comprises four modules:
- Subject knowledge in Research and Clinical Practice
- Project Development and Grant Writing Skills
- Research Methods and Ethics
- Statistical Methods and Techniques
Student status also entitles trainees to a King’s College London email address, which is necessary to access many of the resources available to IATs.

Attendance on the course is mandatory and dates are circulated to trainees well in advance of the course.

Available funding
In addition to external funding that IATs may apply for, King's offers support for conference attendance and research skills training in the form of the IAT Bursaries. We also offer support for trainees setting up their research projects in the form of Research Support Funds.
