The strengths of the research programme in the School of Life Course and Population Sciences are in epidemiology as applied to public health and health services research. Our Masters’ programme provides core training in research methods. We have many ongoing research projects in the areas of child health, stroke, vascular comorbidities, multiple long-term conditions, ageing, health care prioritisation, health informatics and electronic health records research. There are a range of advanced data analytic skills including artificial intelligence along with data set linkage available for training. There is opportunity for international research through our Centre for Global Health. We lead on Public Health (vascular morbidities) for the NIHR funded Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care South London. This has an extensive programme of capacity building in patient safety and improvement science, including an MSc in Implementation Science.
There is a thriving specialty specific programme in public health across London and a growing research network. Trainees' research time will be allocated in blocks, coordinated with their service training needs. The clinical component of the programme will be provided through public health departments in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham with the NIHR LOVE LAMBETH initiative, to foster research in service public health.
