We offer online learning modules and guides as well as face-to-face and online appointments and workshops to help you excel at your studies.

You have access to our wide range of online databases, journals, ebooks and other online material - including digital content held by Archives and Special Collections. Due to licencing restrictions some resources are not available off campus – these resources will be clearly marked. We are making good progress working with publishers to make these resources available off campus wherever possible.

Workshops and Drop-ins

Workshops

We run workshops on literature searching across all Faculties. The aim of these sessions is to introduce you to basic literature searching skills and direct you towards key resources for your subject.

For Health & Biomedical Sciences we run workshops on critical appraisal and undertaking searching for a systematic review as well as basic literature searching.

You can book to attend a workshop online via LibCal. More information on these workshops including dates and how to book can be found here and on the LibGuide for your Faculty. Workshops usually run 1-2 times monthly and we currently offer both online and in-person sessions.

Drop-ins

Drop-ins are held online using Gather. Gather is a virtual office space that lets you walk up to other people that are in the online space and talk to them.

At the moment, drop-ins are only for learners undertaking systematic reviews. They are best suited for someone who wants to talk to a librarian but doesn’t have a specific problem or question they want to discuss. You might just want some general guidance, or an idea of where to start and prefer to talk this through than do independent e-learning or post on a forum.
