Our Impact

The Institute is a hub for discussion and debate, linking UK, Russian and global audiences in education, the cultural and creative sectors, business and government.

We regularly organise symposia and guest lectures with prominent figures, and our academics work with policy makers and experts in the UK and internationally. See below for a selection of our recent activities, and sign up to our events mailing list here.

  • Dr Marc Berenson has co-authored a report with Valeriia Novak in partnership with the Ukrainian Parliamentary Institute examining how policymakers in Ukraine can reform and rebuild the country's tax system. Members of the Ukrainian parliament and other leading policy makers received a copy of Taxpayer Compliance and Ukraine's Economic Recovery, which can be downloaded here.
  • Dr Alexander Kupatadze and Dr Erica Marat (National Defense University) have co-authored a report which finds that Russia has been able to soften the impact of sanctions through a series of informal and shadow trade networks with its neighbours, including Georgia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. The report can be downloaded here.
  • A report, co-authored by Dr Alexander Kupatadze and Lakshmi Kumar, policy director at Global Financial Integrity, USA, identifies the potential risk of increases in illicit trade from China's Belt and Road initiative. It builds on the conclusions of a workshop, funded by the European Anti-Fraud Office, held at King’s College London in March 2022. The report can be downloaded here.
