The Dickson Poon School of Law is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in EU Law who will contribute to the teaching, research, and other academic and professional activities at The Dickson Poon School of Law.

The successful candidate is expected to have completed a PhD by the starting date. They should be keen to gain further experience in a research–led teaching role and being actively involved in the administration and academic life of a thriving law school. The successful candidate’s principal teaching contribution will be in EU Law, on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. This means that, beyond your specialism in the area of EU law, you are expected to have solid generalist knowledge and are able to impart this knowledge to undergraduate students. You may be required to teach across all modes of programme delivery: on-campus, blended and online.

On the research side, along with a demonstrable high potential to attract funding, the successful candidate will be impact-focused and will be able to contribute, as required, to the research priorities of the Centre of European Law (CEL) The CEL is an institution with a fifty-year tradition of action research in European legal affairs. Three of our past and current members were appointed to the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg. At the moment, our priorities focus on, but not limited to, the relations between the EU and the UK post-Brexit, as well as on the following One King’s Impact themes: ‘a thriving and sustainable planet’; ‘advancing equality and social mobility’ and ‘peace and justice in a turbulent world.’

We embrace equality, diversity and inclusion. We attract students and staff from across the world, from many different backgrounds, with a variety of ethnicities, religions, and sexual and gender identities. We promote flexible working as a key enabler of inclusion. We particularly encourage and welcome applications from women, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates, and from candidates who are LGBTQ+ and/or have a disability.
