King’s Health Partners

King’s Health Partners is an Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC), a partnership comprising King’s College London, the  South London & MaudsleyKing’s College Hospital and Guy's & St Thomas'  NHS Foundation Trusts.

An AHSC is the UK government's description of the research and healthcare structure adopted by many of the world's leading academic institutions and hospitals. Based on breaking down barriers and increasing cooperation and focus, AHSCs seek to combine basic and translational health research, clinical care and education to create world-leading improvements in healthcare. The centres speed up the time it takes the NHS to access new and better quality treatments and approaches to improving health because of the unique partnerships between researchers and NHS staff working at the front line delivering patient care.

The main aim of King’s Health Partners is to improve NHS care for patients by putting new research findings into practice and providing high quality teaching for the next generation of clinical staff and scientists.

King’s Health Partners brings real and lasting benefits to the local communities of south London who can access world leading healthcare experts and clinical services which are based upon by the latest research. It works with a range of stakeholders and partners across the health, care and academic economies including local NHS commissioners, specialist-service commissioners, GP localities, patient organisations, local authorities, Health Education South London and other higher education organisations. KHP also forms part of wider academic healthcare partnerships, including the Health Innovation Network, Southwark and Lambeth Integrated Care and our strategic alliance with St George’s Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and St George’s, University of London.
