King's Centre for Military Health Research Veterans Mental Health Conference 2021
The annual Veterans’ Mental Health Conference brings together leading academics, researchers, medical professionals, and charities to discuss the key issues in military mental health.
Organised by the King’s Centre for Military Health Research (KCMHR) with support from the Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT), the 2021 Veterans’ Mental Health Conference was split into four online seminars each discussing a key aspect of military mental health.
Veterans' Mental Health Conference - Policy and Care
Johnny Mercer MP, Colonel David Richmond CBE, Kate Davies CBE and Dr Charles Winstanley discussed mental health policy and care provision for UK military veterans and covered topics related to governmental, healthcare and charity.
Veterans' Mental Health Conference - Science and Function
Dr Kirstie Anderson, Dr Ron Behrens, Professor Nicola Fear, Daniel Dyball and Dr Howard Burdett discussed a range of important, and at times debate provoking, scientific topics related to the health of UK military veterans followed by a panel discussion.
Veterans' Mental Health Conference - Veterans, Families and COVID
Dr Marie Louise Sharp, Professor Dominic Murphy, Helen Helliwell and Professor Janet Walker OBE discussed and presented novel data on a range of subjects related to families and the impact of COVID on the mental health of UK military veterans followed by a panel discussion.
Veterans' Mental Health Conference - Substance misuse and gambling
Dr Laura Goodwin, Dr Dan Leightley, Professor Simon Dymond, Professor Jonathan Ling, Simon Bradley, Dr Anne Fox and Professor Charlie Lloyd discussed and presented novel data on a range of subjects related substance misuse, gambling and addiction, all funded by FiMT.
