COVID-19 studies

Among the early Unit considerations of the pandemic were those by Mary Baginsky examining its effect on child protection. With Emily Thomas, she has also led an NIHR School for Social Care Research study on the Coronavirus Act 2020 and social care. Again focusing on social care, Caroline Norrie and Kritika Samsi led studies assessing the impact on specific workforces in this sector. Jill Manthorpe was co-investigator on the major Ulster-led Health and Social Care Workforce Research Study. In a bibliometric analysis examining 1,435 (English language) social work articles on COVID-19 from 2019 to 2024, Jill Manthorpe was found to be the author who contributed the most to the field.
