Built and owned by the Charitable Foundation of Guy's Hospital following donations from Sir James Mantle Greenwood in 1975, the Greenwood Theatre is leased by King's College London for lectures, student productions and external client bookings.
Fully air-conditioned, the raked auditorium seats 450 people. The stage is equipped with lighting and sound provisions and a full single purchase counterweight flying system for theatre productions. There are a total of 6 dressing rooms of various sizes, from small 'principals' rooms to large 'warm-up' rooms, plus a make-up/wardrobe room and board room for meetings.
The theatre is used extensively during the academic year, for lectures between 9am - 5pm and then student performances from 5pm - 11pm every weekday as well as rehearsals on Saturdays. During the summer months, usually May - September, the college's demands of the theatre are much less.
