Title: Cultural competency in health systems strengthening & research in sub-Saharan Africa: an introduction with practical tips for researchers
An orientation to the cultural context of sub-Saharan Africa for global health researchers & is a quintessential guide for any researcher.
Dr Zamasomi Meyiwa-Luvuno has a background in nursing, community health and quality improvement and works at the Centre for Rural Health at the University of KwaZulu Natal.
She has worked as a health department manager, a researcher and oversees implementation science and health systems strengthening projects with diverse stakeholders across a range of projects with local and international non-profit organizations and universities.
She has a special interest in transgender studies and community engagement, and is widely, and highly, regarded as a ‘cultural ambassador’ equally at home among researchers, health service managers, patients and communities.
Zamasomi spends much of her time brokering partnerships between these constituencies.
