PhD Research Degrees
All those wishing to do a research degree under the supervision of the Centre's academic staff are encouraged to apply.

Initially please email a research proposal of no more than 2 sides of A4 (Times New Roman Font size 11) and a detailed curriculum vitae, giving a brief summary of your academic qualifications (including details of your degree classification), to your proposed supervisor to ascertain their capacity and agreement to support your application.
CEL PhD studentships
The Centre of European Law offers one full PhD studentship per acadmic year (tuition fee and living expenses for a maximum of three years). These scholarships attract outstanding scholars in EU Law who contribute significantly to the Centre's research activity.
Applications are normally invited during Round 1 of the PhD Admissions cycle, closing 1st December each year. Applicants should apply for the Law Research MPhil/PhD programme through the King’s Apply Portal. In the funding section of your King’s Apply Admissions Application Form, ensure you tick the box ‘Applied to a King’s funding scheme’ and enter the CEL.
The subject area of proposed legal research for the studentship must relate to European Law or European Law as broadly understood. The candidate should have achieved, or be expected to achieve, at least a strong Merit in a Master’s degree in law or a related discipline, with strong evidence of research and writing ability. This will normally involve achieving a strong Merit in a dissertation component of the Master’s degree.
